Sandra’s Cross is a web series that is aimed at causing social engineering which will lead to increased awareness and conversation about cases of Gender-Based Violence and specifically on the issue of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and thereby, triggering a behavioral change using new media technology.
The movie, Produced and directed by an award-winning Nollywood movie producer/Director was targeted -Initially- at young people online has subsequently proved to be as equally effective and impacting with the general public online and offline.
Sandra’s Cross 1 was premiered on February 6, 2017, in Abuja, in commemoration of 2017 International Day of Zero tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, and was followed with other screening in 7 cities including Lagos and Dakar. It has reached 89,224 people since then.
Sandra’s Cross season 2 was released as a sequel to the 2017 web series premiered on December 19, 2018, as part of the series of activities to mark the United Nations “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign”.
The movie has been premiered in Abuja and Ibadan with other cities coming up soon. It will be serialized on the YTV Youtube Promoted across social media platforms. It focuses also on Sexual and Gender-based violence and Female Genital Mutilation, Girls Education, Early marriage in Northern Nigeria as well as Vascular Vaginal Fistula.
