Promoting Safe Spaces Through Sports

The International Youth Day (August 12) is a day set aside by the UN to celebrate the impact and relevance of young people around the world. The theme for 2018 “Promoting Safe Spaces”. In celebration of this day, YouthHubAfrica collaborated with 3 organizations; Education as a Vaccine (EVA), ACE Charity Africa and Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Advancement (YIAGA) to commemorate the day in grand-style by hosting a novelty match and mock election on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to mark the day under the theme: ‘Promoting Safe Spaces Through Sports (#SafeSpaces #IYD2018NG). The event brought over 90 persons together who after the match participated in the Mock elections where Goal 17 of the SDGs won with 29 votes.
There was a press release on the need for public safe spaces in Nigeria and review the national youth policy as it provides a practical framework to creating a conducive environment and opening opportunities for young Nigerians to reach their full potential.
In the spirit of the celebration of the International Youth Day, YouthHubAfrica released a list to celebrate 10 young outstanding change-makers in Africa.
