Wuraoluwa Ayodele

Fellow

Wuraoluwa Ayodele is a Lawyer and Women Rights Activist. She has five years of experience in the non-profit and community development sector, skilled in Civic Engagement and law practice. As a lawyer, she strongly identifies as a feminist with her focus on gender equality and women rights as well as the protection and rehabilitation of women and girls facing Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Wuraoluwa is the founder/Program Director of Women Safe House Sustenance Initiative, where she provides Shelter, Healthcare and Legal Aid services to female vicims of all forms Violence across Nigeria. She is the Welfare Secretary of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, Oyo State, where she offers pro bono legal services to Women and girls facing violence in Oyo State, Nigeria.

Queen Nwanyinnaya Chikwendu, is an enterprising young woman with an insatiable passion to impact and influence the 21st century youths through proactive teaching, mentoring and exemplary leadership. She is a fellow, Margaret Ekpo Youth Fellowship.

As a young feminist and the out-going National President, National Female Students Association of Nigeria with a keen interest in mobilizing young women in leadership, she has organized various capacity building programmes for the young female students of Nigeria which geared towards stimulating their interests in the political and civic processes of their communities. She is the Vice President emeritus, Students Union Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka with a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. As a skilled and passionate advocate for human development, gender equality and girl-child education, she engages in series of mentoring, coaching and capacity building for female students across institutions in Nigeria. She believes that closing the huge gap in women representation in leadership and governance in Nigeria is the foundation for achieving the Agenda 2030; thus, there is a dire need for the young women participation in political parties, advocacy campaigns and coalition-building. Through her partnership with Education as a Vaccine and Stand to End Rape Initiative, female Union leaders of all the institutions in Nigeria have been actively recruited into the fight against sexual harassments and abuse in our tertiary institutions.

She is a member of Young AfricaLeaders Initiative and #Sisterskeeper Lead on Academia Engagement, Zahara’s Dream Forum, New York and currently, the Partnership Engagement Officer, Girlup Nigeria, a United Nations Foundation Club whose mission is to ignite the empowerment of girls, by girls around the world.

She has many certifications on Understanding Human Rights, Understanding the Rights of Women and Girls, Community Organizing for Action, Management Strategies for People and Resources, Synergizing Non-Violent Actions and Peacebuilding and many more. She is a volunteer to many organizations.

Adek Bassey

Adek Bassey has over 5 years of experience in adolescents and young people programming with interest in achieving 2 out of 17 Global Action(SDG 3 &16) among young people. Currently Adek Bassey is the founder & executive director of Today for tomorrow foundation(TFT) where for the past three years has saw the organization consistently engaging with young people in Nigeria at two States (Cross River State and Adamawa State) to constantly develop solutions that is aimed at achieving SDG 3 &16 thereby, protecting Adolescent and young people from all forms of violence, prevent unplanned future and reach their full potentials including the socially vulnerable marginalized population street kids and IDPs, She has also use her capacity to work for other organizations as a program officer, community quality improvement analyst, community mobilize/facilitator as well as UNFPA, YouthHub Africa and Eva social media advocate and 2019-2020 Global shapers Calabar Hub Curator, a 2020 women deliver fellow, a YALI RLC cohort 15 fellow, 2020 Margaret Ekpo Fellow, a story teller where she shares her life stories to inspire many young people through her podcast series on @iamdevoice.

Adek Bassey is committed to creating platforms where adolescents and young people make informed decisions, protected from all forms of violence, reach their full potentials and prevent unplanned future as well as being actively involved in policy and decision making, identifying and proffering long lasting solutions to problems affecting them.

Boluwatito Sanusi is a fifth year law student at the University of Lagos, and is passionate about women’s rights & equipping young African women with the resources to tell their own stories. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Through the Eyes of African Women, an organization dedicated to empowering young African women to their narratives through research and collaboration with African women scholars and activists. She has co-organized various protests which has started conversations and produced policy changes such as #SayHerNameNigeria and #JusticeForUwa. Boluwatito also enjoys Model UNs, and has participated as either a delegate or staff in 4 conferences. She served as the Vice Chair of UN Women for Lagos Model United Nations 2020.

Tawakalit is an Alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI); an Ambassador, Africa4Her; a 2020 ONE Nigeria Champion; a member of the Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network; and a member, 2019 Class of PEIFFund, Inc. Her works on gender equality and peace, particularly in the African context, have been published on reputable platforms in Nigeria and Ghana. She has also reviewed Issue Papers on topical subjects in the development sector for the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI). Tawakalit is the Founder of The Butterfly Project (TBP), a not for profit initiative that provides free digital skills training for young women, free menstrual pads to girls and provided direct funding to about 200 families across underserved communities during the first phase of the Coronavirus lock down. Her work with The Butterfly Project has been featured by the United Nations Children’s Fund’s ‘Voices of Youth’, The Nigeria Youth Sustainable Development Goals Network, and Nigerian Tribune.

She is also the founder of Forbidden Topics, a feminist initiative amplifying female voices against social injustices (www.forbiddentopics.com). She was the youngest on the 2020 “top 100 women creating change in Africa” list by We For Good International in 2020 and was selected by Ford with a group of 15 students from 4 continents for the Ford Community Impact Fellowship. She is also holding the title “Miss Speaker Africa 2020”.

Vinaprisca is a trained adolescents and youths sexual and reproductive health rights advocate.

She is the founder and currently the Executive Director of WeCan Africa Initiative- a youth-led organization that empowers women and marginalized groups through its range of programs on vocational and life skills; entrepreneurial, leadership and digital skills trainings. She has empowered hundreds of adolescents and vulnerable women and girls with vocationa skills and information that has made them pursue their dreams. Sadiya Murtala is a youth fellow of Margret Ekpo. She holds an undergraduate degree(Bachelor of science) at Bayero University Kano, where she graduated with Upper Second Class in Mass Communication.

She currently holds the position of the Program Manager at Vision Spring Initiatives (VSI) and is responsible for developing and implementing all program activities at VSI. She has valuable experience in developing programs that directly impacts positively on women and girls and also has a track record of mentoring young people on Gender Based Violence and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. She is passionate about Gender equality and eliminating violence against women and girls. She believes that women’s right are human rights and should be treated as such without any discrimination. She is a graduate from Caleb University where she obtained her first degree in Business Administration.

Grace Gara

Grace has 6 years’ experience in the non-profit sector with focus on the health and rights of women, adolescents and young people. Presently, she is working with Education as a Vaccine (EVA) as the Program Coordinator, Advocacy and Policy Influencing. Prior to this position at EVA, Grace coordinated Psychosocial Support Services provision for survivors of gender based violence at the International Centre for Sexual Reproductive Rights (INCRESE).

In the last 5 years, Grace has been a facilitator at a weekly capacity building program for adolescent girls on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Leadership and life skills where over 500 girls have graduated. In 2016, she volunteered to support psychosocial service/needs assessment of survivors of gender based violence in the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno state. Grace is a Young African Leaders Initiative, Regional Leadership Centre (YALI RLC) West Africa alumni, ONE Champion 2018 and World Literacy Foundation Ambassador 2020. Grace enjoys travelling and reading.

Grace has 6 years’ experience in the non-profit sector with focus on the health and rights of women, adolescents and young people. Presently, she is working with Education as a Vaccine (EVA) as the Program Coordinator, Advocacy and Policy Influencing. Prior to this position at EVA, Grace coordinated Psychosocial Support Services provision for survivors of gender based violence at the International Centre for Sexual Reproductive Rights (INCRESE).

In the last 5 years, Grace has been a facilitator at a weekly capacity building program for adolescent girls on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Leadership and life skills where over 500 girls have graduated. In 2016, she volunteered to support psychosocial service/needs assessment of survivors of gender based violence in the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno state. Grace is a Young African Leaders Initiative, Regional Leadership Centre (YALI RLC) West Africa alumni, ONE Champion 2018 and World Literacy Foundation Ambassador 2020. Grace enjoys travelling and reading.

Blessing Omotunde

Blessing Omotunde is a gender specialist with over five years of experience in social advocacy, women’s rights and empowerment, girl-child education, and capacity building for the vulnerable. She is currently the Project Coordinator on Education and Livelihood Support at Gender Mobile, a non-profit organisation leveraging technology to provide information and other services including legal, counselling, and livelihood support. Blessing has led special community projects in over 15 rural communities where she engages and empowers adolescents with knowledge on Gender-Based Violence prevention and reporting and facilitates access to sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree from the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. She is passionate about building a resilient generation with a firm commitment to changing the gender narrative in Africa one step at a time.

She is a fellow of the Female Reporters’ Leadership Programme of Wole Soyinka Center for Investigative Journalism in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited. She also made the shortlist of the BBC KOMLA Dumor award in 2018. Passionate about impact Journalism, she is the Founder and Creative Director of MEDRIVE ( @medriveng, www.medrive.org) a media hub that provides trainings and mentoring for African journalists. She has trained about over 150 journalists in one year. She works as the Senior Editor Advocacy and Gender Issues, telling stories of underreported minorities.
