Bukky Shonibare

Board Chair

Bukky Shonibare is the Founder/Executive Director of Invictus Africa, a civic organization that promotes human rights and gender equality through data-driven and evidence-based advocacy, legal and policy review, and capacity development. Bukky is actively involved in many campaigns and advocacies aimed at advancing human rights; gender equality; women’s political representation; free, safe, and quality basic education; and peace and security.

Bukky holds a first class degree in Law (LL.B) from Baze University, Nigeria; and a
first class Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Business Administration from SMC University,
Switzerland. She also has a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Law and
Development from the University of Nottingham, UK; and a Master’s degree in
Managing Peace and Security in Africa (MPSA) from Addis Ababa University,
Ethiopia. Bukky is currently studying for an MSc in International Human Rights Law
(IHRL) at the University of Oxford.

Bukky is a Ford Global Fellow, an Oxford-Commonwealth Scholar, a Developing
Solutions Scholar, a Mandela Washington Fellow, and a Malala Fund Education Champion.

Rotimi Olawale

Rotimi Olawale is a public policy expert focusing on Youth Development. For more than 20 years, he has led youth advocacy efforts, mainly around Sustainable development in Africa. 

 

In 2006, he represented Nigeria as a youth ambassador at the United Nations Global Youth Leadership Summit held at the UN Headquarters in New York. In 2008, He was listed by the Nigerian Government as one of 15 youths on the world stage. Rotimi has held several global leadership positions, including; a member UNFPA Global Youth Advisory Panel for two years; Chairperson of the African Youth Panel; served in various capacities, including in 2007 as a Youth Special Interest Group on Vision 2020 member, working alongside a team of young Nigerians to craft youth aspirations for Nigeria’s 2020 vision. He has served as Technical Adviser to the African Union Special Envoy on Youth, providing expertise on youth policies and programs at the continental level and helping to mobilise resources for youth-led initiatives and projects. He currently serves on the board of the African legal think tank on women’s rights; the OneLife Initiative for Human Development; Public Art Africa, among others.

He is versed in the thematic nuances of governance and policies, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and enterprise development with a fold of employability — thematic areas that Onelife Initiative programmes around. Debra holds a Bachelor of Laws from Moi University and is a Certified Public Secretary (C.P.S (K) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (ACIArb). With a career in Financial Services, which spans more than 18 years, Debra has served as a Legal Manager & Company Secretarial professional in top tier Banks in Kenya, notably Absa, Kenya Commercial Bank, Co-operative Bank, Family Bank, and UBA Bank. Before venturing into financial services, Debra worked in the firm of Hamilton Harrison & Mathews (now Dentons H.H.M) and also the N.G.O sector, where she championed the rights of women & children, a cause she is passionate about.

Ange UMUTONI  is a pharmacist who graduated from a leading pharmacy school with honors at the University of Rwanda. She has a deep passion for improving healthcare outcomes in her community. Ange is involved in various programs at HDI that aim to increase access to quality healthcare services for underprivileged communities, Health advocacy, and youth empowerment. In addition to her work with the Health Development Initiative, Ange is an active youth ambassador for the East African Community, for which she served as the regional coordinator. She uses her platform to advocate for meaningful youth participation and leadership development in the region.

Olusegun thinks Skills development and job creation should be the next main discussion in sustainable development.
With about 9 years in youth development activities, Olusegun has been involved in championing sustainable innovations for youth empowerment and community development, with experience in Organisation support and management for non-profit. He spends most of his time at Youthhubafrica where he manages programs and continues to build skills.
An experienced trainer and facilitator but looking forward to a day when he will quit the city for a remote village and for a quiet life.

Olonilua Morenikeji E.Y is a broadcast journalist, menstrual hygiene and a gender justice advocate based in Jos plateau state Nigeria.
In my 7 years of experience in the media, I started focusing on women and girls in 2018, especially the girl child, how policies in Nigeria including in the educational sector affects them. Renny, as I am fondly called, loves to travel, meet people and spend quality time with my family.

Peter Ogah Ejegwoya was born on April 20th 1989, had his secondary, tertiary and post-graduate education at Aveco Model College Makurdi, Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi and Usman Fodio University Sokoto respectively from where he holds a Senior Secondary School Certificate, a BSc in Industrial Physics and a Post-graduate diploma in Education. Peter is a grassroots and community development enthusiast who is passionate about improving access to quality education for the vulnerable (girl-child, children orphaned due to violence), ending all forms of violence against women and girls, ending violence and discrimination against persons living with disabilities, improving citizens versus government relationship towards holding public office holders to account. Peter Ogah has in the last five years helped to implement a couple of projects few of which are; STIC ( Strengthening Indigenous Communities) project of Teenage Network with support from Action Aid, SAGE (Supporting Advancement for Gender Equality) with support from NDI and UN Women, Covid-19 Accountability and Transparency radio program with support from Enough Is Enough and a host of others. Peter Ogah is a youth and grassroots mobilizer for Yiaga Africa, a 2017 ONE Champion and a 2020 fellow of the Open Minds Young Voices program of Friedrich-Elbert Stiftung Nigeria.

With about 9 years in youth development activities, Olusegun has been involved in championing sustainable innovations for youth empowerment and community development, with experience in Organisation support and management for non-profit. He spends most of his time at Youthhubafrica where he manages programs and continues to build skills.
An experienced trainer and facilitator but looking forward to a day when he will quit the city for a remote village and for a quiet life.
