Twenty years after the adoption of the African Youth Charter, YouthHubAfrica, in partnership with World Scouting, convened AYC@20, a webinar held on 15 August 2026 to reflect on the Charter’s progress and continued relevance to young Africans.

The session brought together members of the Scout Movement and wider youth stakeholders to discuss the Charter’s impact at community level, explore the structural barriers limiting its full implementation, and identify practical recommendations for advancing youth development commitments across Africa. Young participants actively engaged in the conversation, seeking information on how to access the Charter, relevant publications, and youth networks.

The engagement reinforced the importance of young people understanding and actively using the African Youth Charter as a framework for advancing their rights, participation, and development. AYC@20 provided a space to reflect on the past two decades while encouraging renewed youth action towards stronger implementation of the Charter in the years ahead.
