The Elevating Young Nigerian Voices project, implemented by YouthHubAfrica, seeks to address a persistent gap in policy and decision-making: young people are often most affected by decisions on gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), governance, migration, and youth development, yet remain underrepresented in the spaces where these decisions are shaped. The project creates opportunities for young leaders to participate meaningfully in national, regional, and international policy conversations and to contribute their perspectives to issues affecting their lives and communities.

Through the project, YouthHubAfrica supported young leaders to participate in key platforms including the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), Women Deliver, the Second World Summit for Social Development (SSWSD), and the African Youth SDGs Summit. These opportunities enabled young people to engage with policymakers, development partners, civil society organisations, and fellow youth leaders on issues including gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), sustainable development, and youth participation. 

Beyond facilitating participation, the project strengthens young people’s capacity in advocacy, negotiation, and alliance-building, enabling them to navigate policy spaces with greater confidence and effectively engage policymakers, development partners, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders. By connecting young leaders to influential platforms and national delegations, the initiative is helping to move youth participation beyond token representation towards meaningful engagement and co-creation.
